GAZA CITY: The death toll in the war-torn Gaza Strip has surged past 25,105, mostly women and children, whereas 62,681 people have been injured in ongoing relentless Israeli bombardment since October 7, Gaza’s health ministry reported on Sunday.

As Israel intensifies its southward offensive, the renewed bombardment in the north has added to the already devastating toll on the Palestinian territory. The health ministry reported that in the past 24 hours alone, 178 Palestinians have been killed in the besieged Gaza Strip. The Gaza government’s media office stated that “dozens are still under the rubble.”

According to the health ministry in Gaza, since October 7, at least 62,681 people have been wounded in the Israeli forces’ bombardment.

The relentless Israeli bombardment has particularly escalated in southern Gaza, with Israeli boats targeting Gaza City and other northern areas early on Sunday. The government’s media office emphasized the challenges faced in rescue efforts, stating that the dead and injured “could not be transferred to hospitals due to the continued artillery shelling on… Khan Younis and the Tal al-Hawa area in Gaza City and the north.”

Saudi Arabia Calls for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Eng. Waleed Al-Khereiji has underscored his country’s firm stance against the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, the delivery of relief aid, and the prevention of forced displacement of Gazans.

The deputy minister made the remarks in a speech delivered on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, at the 19th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement in Kampala, Uganda.

Al-Khereiji emphasized that the Palestinian issue will continue to be at the top of the agenda of key meetings until an independent Palestinian state is established on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with relevant international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
