Ramallah: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called upon the Arab nations to convene an emergency summit to stop this brutal aggression against the Palestinians and their cause, address regional and global challenges, and work towards enabling Palestinian people to stay in their soil and ending the occupation, Arab media reported on Saturday.

He expressed these remarks during a meeting of the PLO Executive Committee on Saturday, President Abbas called on the world to exert pressure on Israel to stop the Palestinian bloodshed. He added that the people of Gaza are facing genocidal massacres by Israel in full watch of the world.
President Mahmoud Abbas said, “Despite an overwhelming majority vote in the UNGA, Israeli occupation forces replied with a ground attack and unprecedented levels of bombardment, and destruction.”

Earlier, UN chief Antonio Guterres on Saturday criticized the “unprecedented escalation” by Israel of the bombardments in Gaza, and reiterated a call for an immediate humanitarian truce for the delivery of aid and help.
In a statement, Antonio Guterres said “I was encouraged by what seemed to be a growing consent for the need of at least a humanitarian pause in the Middle East,”. “Regrettably, instead I was astonished by an unparalleled escalation of attacks, undermining humanitarian purposes.”
