Mumbai: Former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir has said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will collectively decide about the participation of their respective teams in the Asia Cup 2023 (being played in Pakistan) and the ODI World Cup (to be played in India) next year.

His statement comes after PCB Chairman Ramiz Raza said that the Pakistan cricket team will not travel to India for the Men’s One Day International (ODI) World Cup next year if the BCCI didn’t send its team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023.

Ramiz Raja reacted to BCCI  Secretary Jay Shah’s earlier statement, who suggested that India won’t travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023.

According to ANI news agency, Gambhir said that “whatever decision is taken by the two boards, will be taken collectively. This is the decision of the BCCI and the PCB. Whatever decision they take, they will take it together.”

The PCB chairman said that if Pakistan doesn’t participate in the world cup scheduled in India, then who will watch it?

He said that if India doesn’t tour Pakistan, then Pakistan would reciprocate, and the team is showing performance. He added that we would adopt an “aggressive” approach

Asia Cup 2023

The Asia Cup in 2023 will be a 50-over event as it will be used to prepare for the ODI World Cup in India next year.

The two teams have not played a bilateral series against each other for years and have only clashed in ICC events.

India beat Pakistan in the group stage of the world cup held in Australia this year. Virat Kohli was awarded the player of the match for this thrilling performance.
