ISLAMABAD: Agri Tourism Development Corporation of Pakistan (ATDC) is arranging a one-day ‘Gandhara Citrus Festival 2023’ which will be held on January 22 (Sunday).
The festival will be arranged with the collaboration of Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Gandhara Resource Center, and with the assistance of local farmers community at Pind Gakhra Khanpur. The event aims to mobilize the masses to explore Pakistan as the best citrus-growing country in the world and establish linkages between the stakeholders of the industry.
From Sunday-onward, the event will be observed on the third Sunday of January every year.
The event, being arranged under the theme “Explore the Gandhara Civilization and its agriculture field products” focused to offer a conducive environment for the growers, exporters, and importers of citrus, and its value addition companies to share ideas for enhancing and improving the production and quality of citrus.

The event will also focus to improve the production of crops and will encourage the growers to adopt the latest technologies to enhance the production of the crop.
The event will provide a tourism activity, comprising an orange show, a super display of Gandhara art, an informative lecture on successful citrus growing on a domestic and commercial level, and suggestions on value-added products of orange fruit. Orange products will also be displayed on-site farm.
The festival will also be a fun activity for the families and their children as they can go and pick the fruits of their own choice with an opportunity to pay for how much they will pick.
The event also includes a display of stalls foods from the local village, art and craft displays, and camping facility will also be available for the visitors during the event.
Pakistan is considered one of the best and top citrus producers of the globe and the demand for Pakistani oranges is on the rise worldwide.
