ISLAMABAD: Shabbir Ahmed Shah, a senior member of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), along with other prominent individuals and groups, has asked the G-20 participants to boycott the next summit that India will be hosting in the internationally-recognized disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah stated in a message from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail that the fascist Indian government, Narendra Modi, planned the G-20 summit in Srinagar to mislead the world about the actual situation in the occupied territory and promote its so-called normalcy narrative. According to a news release, he claimed that the Indian government has a well-known history of using deception as a state strategy to further its strategic objectives.

“In 2019, New Delhi unilaterally and illegally removed the special status of occupied Kashmir. This was done in flagrant contravention of UN Security Council resolutions. Since then, it has been blatantly spreading lies about the situation in occupied Kashmir to deceive the international community, the speaker claimed.

He lamented that the Modi government is using the G-20 meeting to divert attention from the tense situation in the region and cover up the atrocities its forces are doing against the Kashmiris. The APHC head encouraged the G-20 nations to do a comprehensive analysis of the current situation in IIOJK. He argued that it is an appropriate moment for the highest forum’s members to become aware of the evil plans of the Indian government and the far-reaching effects such gatherings have on the Kashmiris’ continuous struggle for the right to self-determination.

He continued, “We hope that Group members won’t allow the Indian government to utilize this conference to portray its fragile normalcy narrative without giving the situation in the region full consideration.

In a statement released in Jammu, Devinder Singh Behl, another APHC leader, claimed that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally acknowledged disputed region and that hosting the G-20 conference would be a blatant violation of both international law and UN Security Council resolutions.

Other APHC leaders and organizations, including Javaid Ahmed Mir, Dr Umer Iqbal Shaikh, Muhammad Aaqib, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Warseen-e-Shuhada Jammu and Kashmir and Pir Panchaal Freedom Movement in their spate statements issued in Srinagar and Jammu said the communal Modi regime is holding the G-20 event in occupied Kashmir to mislead the international community and the Indian Hindus.

They said this exercise is meant to create a smoke screen to hoodwink the world, particularly the G20 countries, into believing everything is normal in the occupied territory.

Meanwhile, in their statements issued in Islamabad, APHC-AJK leaders Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Gulshan Ahmed, and Qazi Imran said the Modi regime is trying unsuccessfully to hide its crimes in IIOJK.

They said that by this move, India is trying to deceive the world, especially the G-20 countries, to give the impression that the occupied territory is normal while the facts are completely opposite.

They appealed to the United Nations and OIC to take cognizance of India’s nefarious designs and stress upon it to resolve the Kashmir dispute following the Kashmiris’ aspirations without further delay. — APP
