RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday issued a stern warning to India, emphatically stating that any future violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty would be met with a “swift and decisive” response, according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations.
“Let there be no doubt: Pakistan will never tolerate an attack on its sovereignty. Any future provocation will carry consequences — and the responsibility will rest with the aggressor.”
The Army Chief was addressing the commissioning parade of the 123rd Midshipman and 31st Short Service Commission courses at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi. He reaffirmed the country’s unwavering commitment to national security, regional stability, and the Kashmir cause.

Criticising India’s “arrogant and aggressive” posture, Field Marshal Asim Munir said it was exploiting military might for political mileage, warning that peace in South Asia remains hostage to unresolved disputes and hostile provocations.

Referring to Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, the Chief of Army Staff commended Pakistan’s armed forces for their professionalism and readiness, particularly in confronting a numerically superior adversary. “We remain fully prepared to defend every inch of our homeland,” he asserted.
A lawful freedom struggle
The army chief strongly reiterated Pakistan’s support for the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir, calling their struggle a legitimate freedom movement recognised by international law.
“The world must understand that what India labels as ‘terrorism’ is a lawful resistance against occupation,” he said. Quoting verses from the holy Quran, he emphasised Pakistan’s moral and spiritual commitment to justice in the face of oppression.
He warned that regional peace would remain elusive until the Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people. “Pakistan will continue to extend moral, diplomatic, and political support to our Kashmiri brothers and sisters,” he vowed.
Pakistan as a stabiliser
Field Marshal Asim Munir maintained that Pakistan plays a stabilising role in the region, despite the threats it faces.
Our resilience has only grown through every test. We are more determined than ever to protect our sovereignty and advance our national interests. – Army Chief
He noted that Pakistan’s enemies have repeatedly tried to derail its path to progress, but failed.
Strategic naval readiness
He also emphasised the strategic importance of maritime security, urging the newly-commissioned officers to adapt to the rapidly evolving nature of naval warfare. “You are joining a force renowned for discipline, ethics, and operational excellence. Uphold these traditions while preparing for future challenges,” he told the cadets.
The address came during a vibrant ceremony at the Pakistan Naval Academy, which marked the commissioning of 127 midshipmen — including 19 from Bahrain, four from Iraq, and two from Palestine — as well as 23 officers from the Short Service Commission course.
The event was attended by foreign dignitaries, government officials, senior officers from Pakistan’s armed forces, and the families of graduating officers. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf welcomed the COAS on his arrival.
Top performers recognised
The ceremony concluded with an awards distribution recognising outstanding performance. Midshipman Abdul Rehman received the coveted Sword of Honour, while Midshipman Shayan Hashmat was awarded the Academy Dirk.
Officer Cadet Muhammad Uzair Abbas received the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gold Medal, and Officer Cadet Chaudhry Muhammad Aizaz Tahir was presented with the Commandant’s Gold Medal. The Proficiency Banner went to the Quarter Deck Squadron.
