ISLAMABAD: The European Union (EU) delegation to Pakistan has announced a funding opportunity totaling EUR 3 million aimed at safeguarding and advancing human rights and fundamental freedoms in Pakistan.
Underlining human rights and democracy as fundamental EU values, the delegation emphasized the significance of promoting and protecting these principles as a key focus of EU external initiatives.
Recognizing them as essential prerequisites for sustainable development, the EU stressed their role in fostering inclusive, open, and resilient societies.
In addition to ongoing efforts in areas such as freedom of expression, this newly announced call for proposals seeks to support endeavors that enhance individuals’ access to human rights across two primary domains: Business and Human Rights, and Equality and Inclusion of Minorities.
Through this initiative, the EU aims to cultivate an environment conducive to the protection and promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms. The proposed projects, to be executed by civil society organizations, will complement existing EU-funded human rights endeavors aimed at bolstering state institutions.
The EU delegation encourages eligible organizations to submit their project proposals. Concept notes must be submitted before 3 PM on Monday, April 22, 2024.
