ISLAMABAD: From free-of-cost shuttle service provided in the form of electric vehicles to top-of-the-line brands, Rawalpindi’s walking street is a delightful experience for shoppers and a must visit for locals and foreigners alike.
Inaugurated this year, the initiative is part of the Punjab government’s vision to transform public places and make them more tourist and visitor friendly. Pakistan’s Punjab government has been focused on development and progress, and a number of public welfare projects completed in record time are a testament to the abilities and resolve of the province’s leadership.
The setting up of a walking street on Bank Road has been a much-needed respite from an otherwise crowded, relatively unsightly and congested market area that it was.
All types of cabling have been transferred underground in the one-kilometre stretch from Murree Road to Police Station Road. Comfortable new benches, flowering pots along the footpaths, quality food cabins, executive washrooms, state-of-the-art lighting system, and other such beautification measures, have made the walking street located in the heart of Rawalpindi a must visit.
