KARACHI: French Consul General in Karachi Alexis Chahtahtinsky held a meeting with the Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, on Tuesday and discussed issues of mutual interest.
The Mayor welcomed the envoy at the KMC head office and informed him of the details regarding different civic affairs, including the local government system.
He said that Pakistan and France have long friendly ties and that France can assist Pakistan in medical, nursing, and other sectors.
The mayor said that the citizens of Karachi value mutual cooperation and friendship with France. For him as the Mayor, the biggest issue of Karachi is to create a better impression of this city in the world.
He said that Karachi is the commercial and industrial hub of Pakistan and provides 60 to 65% of revenue to the national treasury. Ten to fifteen thousand people come to the metropolis daily for employment, education, and other matters.
Wahab said that sewage, water, and infrastructure are the main problems in Karachi. Karachi is a city of people belonging to different nationalities and religions and speaking different languages, and here respect is gained through hard work.
