French Ambassador Hosts Reception in Honor of Pakistani Journalists

ISLAMABAD: French Ambassador Nicolas GALEY on Friday hosted a dinner reception in honor of Pakistani journalists and media persons in Islamabad to honor the profession and acknowledge their services in strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and France.

Several renowned journalists, media persons, diplomats, and government officials attended the reception.

Addressing on the occasion, French Ambassador Nicolas GALEY said, “On November 2, we had the International Day to Combat Impunity for Crimes Committed against Journalists, and tomorrow will be the 7th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in Paris.”

The UNGA proclaimed November 2 as the ‘International Day to combat Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.

The French Ambassador said that issues dealing with freedom of the press, human rights, and freedom of expression, in general, are of great importance.

He said that freedom of expression is an essential component of human rights, and he is glad that the Nobel Peace Prize, which consecrates promoters of peace and human rights, is regularly awarded to journalists.

“This embassy will remain at your disposal to move forward with you at its modest level. For the moment, I invite you to toast in honor of your profession and of the friendship between France and Pakistan,” the French Ambassador told the journalists.

The Ambassador said that the journalists’ services contribute to the revival of the good relationship between France and Pakistan, which is a concrete reality and certainly excellent news, which many of you have echoed in your media.

“Let me welcome you again and thank you for your presence. I am sure it will a nice moment for all to meet colleagues and friends, and interact with embassy representatives,” the Ambassador concluded.
