ISLAMABAD: Posters have appeared in Srinagar and other parts of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), urding the United Nations (UN) to resolve the Kashmir issue under the January 5, 1949, resolution.

The posters were displayed by pro-freedom organisations, including the Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement and the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Movement.

Posters by pro-freedom groups

The posters demanded the UN take notice of the violation of the right to self-determination of Kashmiris. The pro-freedom groups and activists had also posted the posters on social media platforms Twitter and Facebook.

The posters reminded the world body to implement its Kashmir resolutions to resolve the lingering Kashmir issue.

Posters feature Huriyyat leaders’ pictures

The posters featured Hurriyat leaders who are illegally detained by India, including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Dr Hameed Fayaz, Maasrat Alam Butt, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Aasiya Andrabi, Mushtaq-ul-Islam and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

The posters said that it was the responsibility of the international community to work for the freedom of IIOJK. –APP
