ISLAMABAD/KARNATAKA: The host of a New Year’s Eve party in the Indian state of Karnataka passed away from a heart attack after accidentally killing one of the guests.
Manjunath Olekar, 67, was getting ready to shoot off some celebratory shots at the party on Saturday at his house in Shivamogga city. But a misfired shot hit 34-year-old Vinay U who was standing close to him. The police have also started the investigation.

In many parts of India, it is traditional to fire off shots into the air to celebrate weddings and other important occasions. Unfortunately, this practice frequently results in unintended fatalities and injuries.
According to police officials, Olekar had a licensed gun and has allegedly used it in the past to celebrate the start of a new year. According to Shivamogga, Police Superintendent GK Mithun Kumar, Olekar mistakenly shot Vinay while he was loading the gun during the party on Saturday. Vinay was his son’s friend.
The Police Officer said, “A handgun can be used only in certain circumstances. After the Incident Vinay was taken to hospital but he passed away Sunday night. After the misfortunate incident, Olekar got shocked and collapsed.
