KYIV: In its latest coordinated air assault, Russia unleashed dozens of missiles across Ukraine on Monday, causing significant civilian casualties and targeting residential and commercial areas, claimed Ukrainian authorities.

Local officials in the western Khmelnytskyi region confirmed two fatalities, with critical infrastructure also sustaining damage in the attacks.

In the south-central city of Kryvyi Rih, a 62-year-old individual lost their life, and a shopping center, along with numerous private homes and apartment buildings, suffered damage from nine Russian missiles, according to Oleksandr Vilkul, the mayor.

“The mad enemy once again struck civilians,” stated regional governor Serhiy Lysak on the Telegram messaging app. “Directed missiles at people.”

Ukraine’s National Police reported a total of 38 people wounded across the country.

Russia claimed it targeted military-industrial facilities in Ukraine using sea and air methods on Monday.

“This morning, a multiple attack was carried out with high-precision, long-range, sea and air-based weapons, including the Kinzhal hypersonic missile system, on facilities of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine,” stated the defense ministry in a daily dispatch.
