KARACHI: A massive fire broke out Wednesday at a commercial building in Karachi, Pakistan killing at least 4 people and damaging several shops, rescue and police officials stated.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab also confirmed the development and said that the fire started at a furniture shop and rapidly engulfed other shops on the ground floor of the compound known as Ayesha Manzil. He said that firefighters doused the fires following hectic efforts.

Wahab and hospital officials said that one person was also wounded. The local authorities said that an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the fire. Wednesday’s blaze incident came less than two weeks following a fire tore via a shopping mall in Karachi, killing around 11 people. In the deadliest such incident, about 260 people were killed following being stranded inside a factory when a fire broke out in Karachi in 2012.
