LONDON: Authorities said on Wednesday that at least four people have died following a small boat of migrants overturned in the English Channel on Wednesday. Officials said a major search and rescue operation started in the morning. The United Kingdom (UK) Health Services said it had sent resources following receiving a call about the mishap.

The government of the UK did not share details about the number of persons in the small boat and the number of people rescued in the rescue operation. Local media reported that dozens of people were rescued in the incident on Wednesday morning, citing government sources.
