MANSEHRA: Federal Minister for Energy, Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for 500 Kilovolts Suki Kanari Transmission Line.

While speaking at the inauguration, Dastgir said that the current government is focusing on generating environment-friendly and cheap electricity through hydro, solar and wind sources.

The 75 km long 500kV transmission line is being constructed at a cost of 18704 million rupees. It will add the power generated from the 884 MW Suki Kanari Hydropower Project to the national grid.

The Suki Kanari Hydropower Project was started under CPEC in 2017 with a massive amount of 2100 million dollars. It provided employment to more than 6000 people.

The project will start generating power in November 2024 and is estimated to generate about 3.129 billion units of electricity annually.

The cheap electricity generated by the power plant will be used by household, agricultural and industrial consumers.
