LONDON: The UK’s Government said on Thursday that German tennis star Boris Becker has been freed from jail. According to Reuters, the tennis star is likely to be deported from the UK.
A six-times Grand Slam champion, Boris Becker was jailed for sixteen months by a court in London for hiding his assets after he was declared bankrupt in April. The UK Home Office did not directly comment Boris Becker’s case and said that any convicted foreign citizen is considered for deportation from the country.

Earlier, the star had been convicted of tax evasion in Germany. It may be recalled that the former tennis star had won his 1st Wimbledon final in 1985, and becoming the youngest player to claim the title. The star had rejected all the charges in relation to the court proceedings in London.
He told the court that he had extended his cooperation with the bankruptcy proceedings and even offering up his ring and had mostly relied on his advisers.
