KABUL: Two unknown militants were shot dead as they tried to enter the Hizb-e-Islami party’s headquarters of former Prime Minister of Afghanistan Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, officials said on Friday.
Party Office confirmed that two attackers were killed
A leader of Hizb-e-Islami Ghairat Baheer told the media that the two attackers were killed while one escaped from the scene. He said that the armed men detonated a car outside of the party office. Police officials also confirmed that the two attackers were killed, adding the situation is under control. Gulbuddin Hekmatyar had served as Prime Minister of Afghanistan during 1990s.
The attack took place near a mosque where senior leaders of the Party were present; however, all the party leaders including Gulbuddin Hekmatyar remain safe, according to the official statement and his grandson, Obaidullah Baheer.
