ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Sunday that there was no solution other than banning PTI, adding “PTI is no longer a political party and deserves to be proscribed,”.
In a news conference alongside Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, he criticized former Prime Minister Imran Khan for his reply to Pakistan’s military spokesperson in his first speech after release.
PTI Deserves to be Proscribed: Minister
Rana Sanaullah has said that former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan could be arrested again if he (Imran Khan) was found to be involved in the recent protests in the country. In a news conference, the minister said that every time the PTI took to the roads, 100 to 200 people were found to be involved in recent violent protests and activities. He added that this suggested that these people had been trained for this purpose. “Imran Khan has trained the people and they are his (Imran Khan) investment,” the minister claimed.
He said, “These people are terrorists and were trained for several months and they were told to set fire to certain locations.” Rana Sanaullah said that reports provided by the country’s security agencies about the protest organized by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) outside the apex court on Monday were “very alarming”.
The Minister said “there was a lot of annoyance in the people for the SC due to specific decisions taken by a bench in the past few days”.
“We are very scared that if the protest is staged in the Red Zone on Monday, the Islamabad police have said that it will not be easy to control the protesters. So, I and finance minister Ishaq Dar went to Maulana Fazlur Rehman and requested him to stage the protest outside the Red Zone” he maintained.
He hoped that Maulana Fazlur Rehman will accept their request to change the venue of the protest.
The Interior Minister lamented the way the CJP “welcomed” Imran Khan post his arrest. The Minister said that Imran Khan had caused damages worth billions of rupees and had denied to be probed for it.
