ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has lauded Quetta Gladiators batter Hasan Nawaz for his exceptional century against Islamabad United in the 26th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 on Wednesday.

Quetta Gladiators cruised to a commanding 109-run win over Islamabad United, claiming the top spot on the PSL points table.

Hasan Nawaz’s explosive innings helped the Gladiators post a record-breaking 263/3 in their 20 overs – the highest total in PSL history.

He and Rilee Rossouw spearheaded the dominant display, with both players reaching three figures.

Rossouw blasted a rapid 104, while Hasan hammered a 45-ball century, featuring nine massive sixes and four elegant fours.

With this milestone, Hasan Nawaz became only the second Pakistani cricketer, after Babar Azam, to notch up centuries in both the PSL and T20 Internationals (T20Is) within the same calendar year.

Complete package

Ramiz Raja praised Hasan’s innings as a well-rounded performance, commending his intelligence and composure at the crease, which kept the Gladiators in control.

“Hasan Nawaz’s knock was a complete package and an absolute delight to watch,” he said.

“He rotated the strike cleverly, helped Rossouw maintain his rhythm, and ensured his own strike rate never dipped — the hallmark of a smart batter who puts the team first while keeping up his own tempo,” he added.

Ramiz credited Hasan for helping Quetta reach their record total, noting the youngster’s game awareness and maturity played a key role in setting an imposing target.

“If Hasan hadn’t stood firm and batted with such composure, the team would not have posted that total,” said the former skipper.

He further highlighted Hasan Nawaz’s control and timing throughout his innings, stating, “He judged the pace of his innings beautifully, remained in control, and accelerated at just the right moments.”
