LAHORE: In a major setback to former chief minister Punjab, Usman Buzdar, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday withdrew the single bench’s order that prohibited the arrest of the former Chief Minister.
The decision came after Justice Ali Baqir Najafi-led five-member larger bench issued a written order requesting the details of Usman Buzdar’s preliminary investigation. During today’s hearing, the questions raised by the single bench were not referred to LHC Chief Justice while referring the file to the larger bench while both parties involved in the case had also submitted a written response on the matter.
The case is set to continue with hearing postponed until May 26. It is to mention here that the former Punjab chief minister and PTI leader Usman Buzdar had secured protective bail in corruption and other cases.
LHC Bahawalpur bench judge Justice Tariq Nadeem heard the case in which Usman Buzdar appeared in-person for the protective bail. The LHC Bahawalpur bench had granted seven days protective bail to Usman Buzdar after hearing initial arguments from his counsel.
