Foreign Tourists are Safe in flood-affected Astore

ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has informed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the foreign tourists in the flash flood-hit areas of Astore were safe and away from the affected region.

The prime minister had issued directives to the NDMA to ensure the safety of the foreign tourists and protect the locals from any troublesome situation due to heavy rains and floods.  In a report submitted to him, the NDMA also informed the PM that the NDMA took immediate action on his direction to protect the foreign tourists in the flood-hit area.

It was told that two Italian and an Argentinian tourist were on safe and at a distant location from the affected region.  Besides, the work was underway in order to ensure the swift restoration of Feena bridge.

The NDMA and other relevant departments were also examining the situation and were on alert to deal with any emergency situation.
