LONDON: England’s legend Sir Bobby Charlton, who is regarded as one of Manchester United’s greatest-ever footballers died on Saturday. He was 86-year-old. In a statement Manchester United said that Sir Bobby Charlton was a hero to millions worldwide.

The club remembered him, saying ” Sir Bobby Charlton was admired as much for his sportsmanship and honesty as he was for his outstanding qualities as a player; he will always be remembered as a giant of the sport.”
He scored 249 goals in 758 matches during 17 years as a Manchester United star, winning the European Cup, 3 English top-tier league titles, and the FA Cup as well.

Sir Bobby Charlton led England to win the 1966 World Cup, scoring 49 goals in 106 games for the English team.
