Fog Grips Most Parts of Pakistan, Motorway Shut at Various Sections

ISLAMABAD: Dense fog continues to grip various areas of Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Closure of Motorways due to fog

Due to heavy fog, Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2) has been closed to traffic from Lahore to Kot Sarwar and Pindi Bhattian, Faisalabad Motorway (M3) from Darkhana to Jaranwala and Sukkur Multan Motorway (M5) from Sher Shah to Zahir Peer. v

According to motorway police, the Faisalabad-Multan Motorway (M4) had been completely closed.

Traffic flow had been affected on national highways due to the fog as well.

The motorway police have issued instructions to citizens not to travel unnecessarily.

Today’s weather

The Met Office has forecast cold and cloudy weather in most parts of the country. However, light rain and snowfall has been forecast in north Balochistan, in upper parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pothohar region and Kashmir. 

Recorded temperatures

According to the Met Office, a maximum of 8 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 7°C in Lahore, 18°C in Karachi, 7.5°C in Peshawar, and 1°C in Gilgit.

Minimum recorded temperatures

Today’s lowest minimum temperature of -15°C was recorded in Leh, followed by -14°C in Skardu, -10°C in Astore and Gupis and -08°C in Hunza.
