FM Bilawal Bhutto Seeks Global Support for Pakistan’s Post-flood Reconstruction Plan

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday sought global support for the long-term post-flood rehabilitation and reconstruction plan.

The foreign minister held a meeting with the United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed in New York. Both leaders discussed matters of mutual interests and problems Pakistan is faced with.

Bilawal Bhutto stressed that Pakistan needed an effective follow-up on the promises and commitments of the other countries to help Pakistan bring out the effects of the recent natural calamity.

The foreign minister extended his gratitude to Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed for the sustained support from the UN after the flood disaster in the country. He said that the uN should also support the International Conference for Climate Resilient Pakistan, being held in Geneva on January 9, 2023.

He appreciated and welcomed the establishment of ‘Loss and Damage Fund’ and called for its early operationalization.

While the Deputy Secretary General hailed Pakistan’s role as Chair of G77 and China and its efforts to highlight the cause of the developing countries.

She said that she wanted to work closely for Pakistan in the aftermath of the floods, to make the rehabilitation and reconstruction plan a success.
