ISLAMABAD: All flights across the United States (US) have been grounded due to a glitch with the computer system of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
According to US media, the FAA said in a statement that it was working to restore its Notice to Air Missions System.
FAA repopulating computer system
The statement said that FAA was performing final validation checks and repopulating the computer system now. The fault affected operations across the National Airspace System.
FAA added that it will give frequent updates as it makes progress.
Several people took to Twitter to say that they had been stranded due to an untoward situation.
FAA said in a statement that some functions were beginning to come back online, but “National Airspace System operations remain limited.”

American Airlines said the outage has affected “all flights, including all carriers.”
Flight carrier United Airlines stated they were delaying all domestic flights until more FAA updates.
In a tweet, Texas’s Austin-Bergstrom International Airport confirmed that “an FAA outage is causing ground stops at AUS and other airports across the US.”
It said arriving and departing passengers should expect delays.
Passengers have posted on social media that they are experiencing flight delays and outages across the country.
