RAWALPINDI: Five brave soldiers, including an officer, embraced martyrdom when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded during an ongoing clearance operation in the Kahan area of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release on Sunday.

After credible intelligence reports, the armed forces launched an operation on 24 December in Kahan, Balochistan, ISPR said. During the ongoing operation, an IED exploded close to the leading party.

Resultantly, Captain Fahad and four other brave sons of soil Lance Naik Imtiaz, Sepoy Mehran, Sepoy Shamoon, and Sepoy Asghar, embraced martyrdom, sacrificing their lives in defense of the motherland against an externally perpetrated terrorism threat, ISPR said in a statement.

It added that such cowardly acts by hostile elements could not sabotage Balochistan’s hard-earned peace and prosperity, ISPR maintained.
The statement said that security forces are fully determined to thwart the enemy’s nefarious designs, even at the cost of their precious lives.

The sanitization operation is underway in the area to arrest the perpetrators.
