PESHAWAR: In a significant crackdown, the provincial Food Department has apprehended five people involved in the illegal supply of dead buffalo meat to hotels in Peshawar.

Responding to reports of unhygienic food practices, the department discovered two dead buffalos in a warehouse during a targeted raid.

The arrested suspects, comprising three sellers and two butchers, have been promptly incarcerated for 30 days, as confirmed by the Food Department.

The contaminated meat, found to be destined for a hotel along Ring Road in Peshawar, highlights the department’s dedication to maintaining food safety standards within the city.

The selling of dead animal meat is the cause of various diseases in the society. Citizens have requested the government to take action against these butchers.

Similar to other cities, Peshawar has multiple locations where the meat of dead and sick animals is being sold.
