RAWALPINDI: Major General (retd) Azhar Ali Syed, who was the first graduate of the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Living Course, passed away at the age of 94. The news of his demise has been met with sadness by the entire country.
Major General (retd) Syed was a renowned figure in the Pakistani Army and was known for his exceptional work in the Electric and Mechanical Engineering Corps. He was one of the oldest retired army officers and had served the nation for many years with great honor and dedication.
A large number of serving and retired military and civil officers, as well as relatives of the deceased, participated in the funeral prayer to pay their last respects to the national hero.
Azhar Ali Syed was among the first batch of PMA Living Course
The first PMA Living Course commenced in January 1948, and Major General (retd) Azhar Ali Syed was among the first batch of 80 cadets who received their commission on February 4, 1950. Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, who is a national hero and renowned for his bravery, also received his commission in PMA Living Course.
Major General (retd) Syed’s contributions to the Pakistani Army and the nation will never be forgotten. He served the country with great honor and was a true inspiration for the younger generations.
The retired army officer was laid to rest with full military honors at the Army Graveyard in Rawalpindi. He left behind a widow and loved ones who will always remember him as a loving and caring family member.
