First lady Begum Samina Arif Alvi has said that there is a need for awareness campaigns and measures to reduce the deaths of women from breast cancer in the country.
Timely awareness campaigns, preventive measures, and treatment are very important for the prevention of breast cancer. She said unfortunately this deadly disease is spreading very rapidly.
She expressed these views while addressing a function organized in connection with a breast cancer awareness campaign at a local hotel here on Tuesday.
The first lady said educated women, mass media, educational institutions, and government and non-government organizations should support the breast cancer awareness campaign.
Apart from medical experts, diplomats, and people from different walks of life, a large number of women also participated in the event.
Begum Samina Arif Alvi said that due to the delayed diagnosis of breast cancer in Pakistan, there is a large loss of lives and a large number of women are affected by it, which is a cause for concern, awareness is needed to protect women from this deadly disease.
The campaign is underway, resulting in a vigorous national awareness campaign that will help reduce breast cancer.
She said that it is the result of our efforts that there has been enough awareness among women, according to the report of Shaukat Khanum Hospital, the number of breast cancer patients in the first stage has increased.
Last year, Khyber Teaching Hospital organized a free medical camp in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in which thousands of women were examined and 16 were diagnosed with breast cancer at an early stage, this year they again organized a free medical camp and two cases of breast cancer have been identified in the first week of October.
She thanked the people involved in the breast cancer awareness campaign in all the provinces of the country and said that they are working with great missionary spirit.
