WUHAN: The first Chu culture festival, showcasing the cultural heritage of the ancient state of Chu, has opened in Jingzhou, Hubei Province, central China.
The Chu state was founded during the pre-Qin period (before 221 B.C.). The state of Chu, which has a history of over 800 years, has had its capital in Jingzhou also known as Jiangling in ancient times) for more than 400 years. As a result, Jingzhou is known as the cradle of Chu culture.
The Chu people achieved great success in fields such as bronze smelting and silk weaving, as well as in literature and the arts.
Throughout the festival, which runs until mid-April, there will be exhibitions and art shows featuring Chu history and culture, as well as the launch of three Chu culture travel routes.
In recent years, Jingzhou has placed a high value on the transmission and development of Chu culture and has worked to promote exchanges and the protection and innovation of Chu culture, according to Wu Jin, a Jingzhou official. — APP
