First Batch of Pilgrims Arrive in Makkah via Haramain Express Train to Perform Hajj

MAKKAH: The annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia commenced as the first batch of pilgrims arrived in Makkah from Jeddah and Madinah, traveling on the fastest electric train in the Middle East, according to the state-run SPA news agency’s report on Friday.

The transportation and logistics system facilitated the pilgrims’ journey through the deployment of one of the world’s longest trains to the Grand Mosque, aiming to enhance integration and interdependence with various modes of transportation. The Haramain express train played a crucial role by transporting arrivals from the airport to Makkah, boasting a fleet of 15 trains with a capacity of 1.5 million seats.

Haramain Express Train Facilitating Hajj Pilgrims

Operating at a remarkable speed of 300 kilometers per hour, the Haramain express train covers a vast road network spanning 453 kilometers. The train system consists of 35 electric trains, each accommodating 417 passengers. The trains are equipped with 13 carriages, including five business class compartments offering catering services and eight economy class compartments. In total, there are 113 business class seats and 304 economy class seats available for the pilgrims.

The utilization of the Haramain express train has significantly facilitated the transportation of pilgrims, ensuring their safe and efficient travel to Makkah for the Hajj pilgrimage. The introduction of this high-speed train has greatly contributed to the seamless movement of pilgrims during this significant spiritual journey.
