LAHORE: Pakistani actor Firdous Jamal has stirred controversy once again with his harsh comments about superstar Mahira Khan, calling her an “old woman.”

During a recent appearance on a private TV channel, Firdous was asked about his previous remarks, where he had suggested that Mahira, one of Pakistan’s top actresses, should no longer be cast as a heroine due to her age.

The host reminded him of Mahira’s exceptional performance in the blockbuster film The Legend of Maula Jatt and asked if his opinion had changed. Firdous Jamal remained firm, stating, “I still stand by my statement. I simply pointed out the truth about her age—she is an old woman.” He added, “If people find her beautiful, that’s their opinion, but in my view, she is not.”

When the host mentioned that 90% of Pakistanis consider Mahira Khan beautiful, Firdous responded, “If 90% of people are fools, that’s not my fault. Should I become a fool too?”

Firdous explained that he judges acting by comparing actresses to stars like Elizabeth Taylor and that his perspective on beauty and talent is personal. He concluded by saying, “I stood by my statement before, and I stand by it now.”

It’s worth mentioning that in 2019, Firdous Jamal had similarly criticized Mahira, suggesting that she should no longer play leading roles, as she is too old and should transition to playing motherly characters instead.
