Pakistan: Abrarul Haq, Saifullah Khan Nyazee Quit PTI

LAHORE: PTI leader and singer Abrarul Haq announced on Friday  “he is parting ways with the party”, adding he did not see any purpose in staying with Imran Khan’s PTI.  Similarly, senator Saifullah Khan Nyazee also announced to distance himself from PTI and said, “ I have to focus on health, family and personal life”.  In a press conference, he said that he is going to leave the PTI. Saifullah Khan Nyazee condemned the “attacks” that occurred on May 9.

Earlier, former Information Minister and PTI leader Firdous Ashiq Awan announced on Friday to quit the party, adding former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s agenda had become “harmful for the country”.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, the former minister said “good to see you”, adding that the axiom had become the talk of the town. Firdous Ashiq Awan told the media that that she had decided to leave PTI as under the pretenses that Imran Khan’s agenda had become harmful for the nation.

She added that her politics centres around serving humanity due to which she had joined the PTI. She expressed regret that “while the country’s national security agencies were continuing their war against extremism and terrorism, some people were misleading the then prime minister Imran Khan.”

She claimed, “Billons were spent to brainwash the country’s youth and a conspiracy was hatched to defame Pakistan’s institutions,”.

Violent protests sparked in Pakistan on May 9 following the arrest of ex-PM Khan from Islamabad. Former Punjab education minister Murad Raas also announced that he was parting ways with the PTI and Imran Khan. In a press conference in Lahore, the former minister said that they did not agree with May 9’s agitation.

After May 9 events, several party leaders condemned the incidents and resigned from PTI. Several party leaders including Aamir Kiani, Shireen Mazari, Mahmood Moulvi, Amin Aslam, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, Aftab Siddiqui, and others have announced leaving PTI. Former Finance Minister Asad Umar had also announced to quit all party position.
