ISLAMABAD: In the FIFA World Cup 2022, Group A’s match between Senegal and Ecuador, the African side edged out the South Americans 2-1 to reach the second round in a mesmerizing game at Qatar’s Khalifa International Stadium.
The hotly contested game saw Ecuador having a ball possession percentage of 64 percent while that of Senegal was 32 percent with 22 percent contested.

With the flow of the game being run by Ecuador, the South Americans were stunned when Ismaila Sarr netted a penalty for Senegal. The first half ended with Senegal leading 1-0.
Ecuador playing with determination found the equalizer when Moises Caicedo netted the ball in the 68th minute. However, the African side struck back within a couple of minutes as Kalidou Koulibaly scored in the 70th minute.
Till the end of the game, Senegal led 2-1 against Ecuador.
