DOHA: The international football body, FIFA has claimed that more than 2.45 million fans attended the group stage matches of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. The world’s top football body said that the number was higher than 2018 football world cup in Russia.

FIFA World Cup 2022 Final at Lusail Stadium
FIFA said that 88,996 people attended the game between Mexico and Argentina at Lusail Stadium. It said that it was the most attended match in the group stage. It maty be recalled that football world cup final will also be played at Lusail Stadium.
Similarly, more than one million people visited football Fan Festival in Doha, a venue, where football fans can watch live matches during the mega event and this trend was introduced in 2006 in Germany. Till date, Saudi Arabia is leading the list of most visitors, followed by India.

South Korea, Japan to Play 2nd round
Earlier, Qatar said that it was expecting more than 1 million visitors during the football World Cup. More than 36 million people watched Costa Rica and Japan match via television. FIFA said that this is for the first time that two African nations Morocco and Senegal have also reached to the next round. Earlier, Algeria and Nigeria had qualified for the second round during 2014 FIFA world cup.

Morocco topped its group following defeating Canada and Belgium, while Senegal defeated host Qatar, drew with Ecuador, and Netherlands in its Group A games. South Korea, and Japan qualifying was the first time two countries from the Asia made it to the 2nd round of football World Cup.
