ISLAMABAD: Argentina overcame Netherlands 5-3 on penalty shoots, as the match ended 2-2 after 120 minutes game in the second quarterfinal of the FIFA World Cup 2022 to book their berth in the semifinal at Lusail Football Stadium Doha Qatar on midnight of Friday and Saturday. The match kicked off at 12:00 am.
After missing a couple of occasions to earn the lead in the do-or-die fixture, Argentina succeeded to score the goal in the 35th minute of the first half. Although, Nahuel Molina kicked the ball into the net, however, the effective move was created by Lionel Messi, who passed him the ball well in time after dodging three defenders of the Netherlands.
It was the maiden international goal for Molina in World Cup football history. Argentina’s attackers wasted two occasions in the 25th and 33rd minutes to score the goal. On the penalty shoots, Argentine beat Holland 5-3 on penalty shoots. Now, 2-time champions Argentina will meet Croatia in the first semifinal of the Qatar Football World Cup on December 14, 2022, at the same venue.
