Field Marshal Munir, US Congressmen Discuss Pakistan-US Defence Cooperation, Economic Partnership

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held talks with two members of the US House of Representatives at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday, focusing on regional security, bilateral defence cooperation and opportunities to expand economic collaboration, the military’s media wing said.

US Congressmen Ryan Keith Zinke of Montana and Michael James of Washington called on Field Marshal Munir at General Headquarters, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated.

During the meeting, discussions focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security, bilateral defence cooperation and avenues for enhancing economic collaboration and prosperity, ISPR said.

​Field Marshal Munir highlighted Pakistan’s vast economic potential, emphasising that sustainable regional stability is deeply anchored in economic growth, trade expansion and connectivity.

The Chief of Defence Forces underscored Pakistan’s ongoing structural reforms aimed at fostering a business-friendly environment and attracting foreign investment.

​The US Congressmen acknowledged Pakistan’s critical role in regional stability and economic resilience. Recognising the professional backgrounds and insights of the delegation, both sides discussed potential opportunities for bilateral economic engagement, private sector partnerships and enhancing bilateral trade ties.

​The visiting delegation thanked the military leadership for the warm hospitality and expressed a shared commitment to promoting deeper economic, commercial and institutional linkages between the United States and Pakistan, ISPR stated.
