Pakistan and France maintain longstanding defence and security ties, with cooperation covering defence dialogue, counter-terrorism and other security matters. The two countries have also agreed to sustain and further develop their defence relationship under the Pakistan-France Bilateral Roadmap signed in 2023.
In recent engagements, Islamabad and Paris have continued discussions on regional and international security issues, including peacekeeping and counter-terrorism. Pakistan and France have also maintained regular high-level exchanges as part of their broader bilateral relationship.
Pakistan and France have strong cooperation in the naval sector, including the Agosta 90B submarine project, under which the latter provided technology and technical assistance to Pakistan for the construction of three submarines.
