PESHAWAR: A crackdown targeting individuals engaged in illegal hawala and hundi operations, along with unauthorized currency exchange activities, continues with the recent arrest of two alleged accused on Wednesday.
According to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) spokesperson, the arrested persons are identified as Muhammad Arshad and Muhammad Safdar.
Muhammad Arshad was apprehended from Ghala Mandi Kohat, while Muhammad Safdar was nabbed from Faqirabad Peshawar.
Both individuals were found to be involved in the unauthorized exchange of currency, lacking the necessary license for such operations.
Upon inspection, the accused failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the recovered currency. The raids were carried out by the Commercial Banking Circle in Peshawar and the Composite Circle in Kohat, resulting in the seizure of over PKR 1,480,000 from the accused.
Additionally, mobile phones utilized for facilitating hundi transactions and other incriminating evidence were confiscated during the operation.
The arrested individuals are now under custody, and investigations into their activities have commenced.
