ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a ‘cash boy’ who had deposited funds worth millions in certain accounts owned by Farah Shehzadi – also known as ‘Farah Gogi’ – a few days ago, Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Interior and Legal Affairs, said on Monday.

During a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, Tarar said that the alleged ‘cash boy’ had been placed on a no-fly list and was detained while was attempting to leave the country.

Taking aim at the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Tarar said that if as per PTI’s argument, Gogi cannot be questioned over her deals because she is not a public office holder, then the PTI chief, being a former public office holder, should appear before the court and relevant authorities to give answers.

He said that if Imran Khan can appear before the Lahore High Court by walking on his two feet and without needing any assistance, even crutches, then he can also easily appear before other courts.

He added that in a defamation suit filed by Shehbaz Sharif against Imran Khan, the Supreme Court (SC) had stopped Imran from exercising his right to a defence over his use of delaying tactics in the case.

Tarar said that SC had maintained a decision of the high court in the Shehbaz versus Imran case.

“We are hopeful of winning the defamation suit,” he hoped, terming Imran a liar and duplicitous person.

The SAPM also advised former chief justice Saqib Nisar Ahmed not to interfere in politics.

No PTI member volunteered for arrest so far: Tarar

Commenting on PTI’s ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’, Tarar said that the govenment has been waiting, but no PTI member has stepped forward for a volunteer arrest so far.

“Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry; none came forward to volunteer their arrest,” he claimed.
