FIA Apprehends Three Illegal Money Changers

PESHAWAR: On Tuesday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle in Peshawar detained three unlicensed money changers and two suspects reportedly engaged in selling spurious medications.

As per an FIA official, acting on a tip-off, an anti-corruption team conducted a raid in the Kohat district, specifically on Banny Road. During this operation, they detained three individuals allegedly involved in the hundi business, an illegal informal money transfer system.

The team seized a substantial amount of foreign and local currency, totaling Rs 3.27 million, from the suspects. Subsequently, a case was registered, and an investigation was launched into the matter.

Simultaneously, in an intelligence-driven operation within Namak Mandi, Peshawar, another FIA team apprehended two individuals suspected of engaging in the illicit trade of counterfeit and unregistered medicines within the local market. The FIA registered a case against the accused and initiated a comprehensive investigation into their activities. —APP
