ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Mufti Abdul Shakoor died in a tragic road accident near Marriot Hotel in Islamabad, Islamabad police said on Saturday night.
According to Islamabad police, the federal minister was travelling from Marriot Hotel to Pakistan Secretariat Chowk when the accident took place. The police confirmed that Mufti Shakoor’s vehicle was hit by another vehicle near Marriot Hotel, resulting in critical injuries to the minister.
The authorities immediately rushed to the scene and shifted the injured minister to Polyclinic Hospital for medical assistance, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The police have confirmed that five people have been arrested in connection with the road accident. According to reports, the Hilux Revo in which the five men were travelling hit the car of Maulana Abdul Shakoor, resulting in the tragic incident.
The funeral prayer of Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Ameer JUI FATA Mufti Abdul Shakoor will be offered tomorrow Sunday, April 16 at 2:00 PM at Taji Zai Lakki Marwat.
