ISLAMABAD: The federal government is close to finalizing the National Space Rules, a crucial step in implementing the National Space Policy.

Extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including PTA, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of IT and Telecom, PEMRA, and SPARCO, have paved the way for the official approval of these regulations.

The National Space Rules will serve as the basis for establishing the National Space Agency (NSA) under the National Space Policy.

These rules will define the NSA’s composition and powers, providing a comprehensive framework for its operations.

Upon approval, the NSA will initiate a streamlined satellite registration process, simplifying licensing procedures through the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. The National Space Policy aims to facilitate satellite registration by centralizing the process through the NSA, making it more accessible for satellite operators.

The Caretaker federal cabinet’s approval of Pakistan’s first-ever space policy on December 13, 2023, underscores the government’s commitment to advancing space activities in the country.
