ISLAMABAD: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has announced an additional 5,000 scholarships for boys and girls from Balochistan and the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), enabling them to pursue higher education at leading universities across Pakistan.

Addressing the National Assembly on Tuesday, the minister said the second phase of the scholarship programme had been launched to provide talented students from the two regions with greater access to higher education.

He recalled that the previous government had introduced the scholarship initiative to help deserving students gain admission to leading universities across the country.

Ahsan Iqbal emphasised that education was one of the most effective means of overcoming backwardness, reducing regional disparities and promoting sustainable development in underdeveloped areas.

The additional scholarships are intended to broaden educational opportunities for young people from Balochistan and the former FATA, helping them develop their academic potential and contribute to the country’s progress.

The initiative is significant for students in remote and underdeveloped areas, where financial constraints and limited access to quality educational institutions often restrict opportunities for higher education.

Scholarships can help deserving students overcome these barriers, gain access to better academic facilities and improve their prospects for employment and professional development.
