ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Friday approved the federal budget for fiscal year 2026–27, after which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally signed the budget documents, marking the completion of the federal budget approval process ahead of its presentation in Parliament.

According to official details, the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif cleared the budget amid discussions on economic challenges, security priorities, and fiscal coordination with the provinces.

The prime minister also stressed the importance of maintaining strong national security, calling it essential for economic stability and progress.

Following cabinet approval, the prime minister signed the annual budget documents, which are now set to be tabled in Parliament for debate and passage.

During the meeting, the prime minister highlighted ongoing consultations with provincial governments and thanked political leadership across parties for their cooperation in finalising the financial framework.
