Federal Budget to be Presented in NA on June 9

ISLAMABAD: The budget for fiscal year 2023-24 would be presented in the National Assembly on 9th of June after getting approval by the Federal Cabinet.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asked the authorities concerned to take all possible measures to provide maximum relief to the common man in the next year’s budget.

He said this while chairing a high-level meeting regarding the preparation of the budget for financial year 2023-24 in Islamabad on Tuesday. During the meeting, the PM was briefed by his economic team about the next year’s budget and about the revised estimates of revenue and expenditures besides target estimates for the next fiscal year.

The meeting was informed that the budget for year 2023-24 would be presented on June 9 in the National Assembly after getting approval by the Federal Cabinet. Shehbaz Sharif said all available resources would be used to reduce the financial difficulties and provide relief to common man.

The PM expressed satisfaction that prices of Urea were continuously decreasing due to the timely and prudent strategy of the government. He said during the past two months, current account surplus was gained after many years and the economy was heading towards positive trajectory. He directed the authorities to take concrete measures to increase revenue target and enhance tax net.

He also directed the authorities to finalize pension reforms at the earliest and establish a pension fund through adopting creative methods to lessen the burden on the national treasury that would ensure welfare of the pensioners.
