FBR to Collect Revenue Over 9.4 Rs Trillion Rupees During Current Financial Year: Minister

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamsad Akhtar has hoped to collect more than Rs 9.4 trillion revenue during the current Financial Year due to recent reform the Federal Board of Revenue.

The minister expressed these remarks during a gathering related to the International Customs Day Celebrations, held in Karachi on Saturday. In her speech she stressed upon all the stakeholders to work together for securing the international trade supply chain.

Finance Minister Hails Custom Role

The minister also underscored the importance of Customs in cross-border trade and stressed upon the importance and impact of the Single Window activity in Customs operations. She also appreciated the role and progress performed by officials from the department in recent times.

Earlier, Member Customs Operations, Dr. Fareed Iqbal Qureshi reiterated the need for new and innovative steps to keep abreast of the evolving role of Pakistan Customs for preserving the economic frontiers and ensuring all possible measures to be taken for legitimate trade.

In his remarks, Collector Customs Enforcement Karachi underscored the need for inter-agency cooperation to tackle challenges being faced by Customs on the Appraisement as well as Enforcement side.

Later, Minister also distributed certificates of merit issued by the World Customs Organization (WCO) for officers executing exceptional services in discharge of their duties. The event was also attended by diplomats, civil servants, senior officials from the civil, military armed forces, businessmen and civil society members.
