ISLAMABAD: Fawad Chaudhry, the chief spokesman of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former federal minister has announced his decision to quit politics and part ways with PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
Chaudhry made the announcement in a tweet, referring to his earlier condemnation of the May 9 incidents. In his tweet, he stated that he has resigned from his party position.

This follows a series of resignations from PTI, including prominent leaders such as Shireen Mazari and Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, dealing a major setback to the top opposition party.
Since the May 9 violence and the controversial arrest that followed, numerous PTI leaders and lawmakers have publicly denounced the attacks on state installations and announced their departure from the party.
Aamir Mehmood Kiani, Malik Amin Aslam, Mahmood Moulvi, and Aftab Siddiqui, among others, have all distanced themselves from the former ruling party. They attribute their decisions to the ongoing government crackdown and the violence that ensued.
Fawad Chaudhry’s Affiliation with PTI
The departure of Fawad Chaudhry, who had served as federal information minister during PTI-led federal government and Dr. Shireen Mazari, who previously served as the human rights minister, marks a significant blow to Khan’s party. Mazari’s multiple detentions since May 12, in connection with the deadly protests that followed Khan’s arrest, have reportedly influenced her decision to leave PTI.
Fawad Chaudhry’s decision to quit politics and part ways with Imran Khan signifies a further blow to PTI as the exodus of party members continues.
