RAWALPINDI: Former leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Fawad Chaudhry, on Wednesday expressed his concerns about leaving the fate of the Pakistani people in the hands of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

In a joint press conference alongside Imran Ismail and Mahmood Moulvi, who have also recently distanced themselves from PTI, Chaudhry emphasized the need for accountability for the events that occurred on May 9, stating that those responsible should be punished according to the law.

Blaming the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government for the prevailing political and economic uncertainty in the country, Chaudhry emphasized that the 250 million population of Pakistan should not be left vulnerable to the leadership of Zardari and Nawaz Sharif.

Chaudhry further stated that it was crucial to maintain a strong opposition in order to prevent the PDM from having an unrestricted political playing field.

Fawad Chaudhry Meets PTI Leaders

Chaudhry disclosed that he had held discussions with the leadership of PTI, including Asad Umar, Pervez Khattak, Asad Qaiser, and Shah Mahmood Qureshi. He emphasized the need for stable solutions and called for collective responsibility to address the plight of numerous innocent individuals and workers currently imprisoned.

It is worth mentioning that several PTI lawmakers and members have parted ways with the party following the violent incidents that took place on May 9. The attacks targeted military installations, including the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and the Corps Commander House in Lahore, following the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan.

The departure of former human rights minister Shireen Mazari and former information minister Fawad Chaudhry has dealt significant blows to the PTI in the aftermath of the May 9 violence.
